Fletcher – Charles Troy “Charlie” Turner, 64, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his residence. A native of Asheville, he had resided in Henderson County for the past 24 years. He retired in 2018 from Asheville Parks & Recreation as Chief Umpire for over 40 years, worked at Steps for Success Family Services, a group home for young men in Candler, and also at the Veterans Quarters in Asheville for a number of years. He was a son of the late Troy Turner and Shelby Jean Ingle Nace. Surviving are the love of his life, Elizabeth “Beth” Miller of the home; son, Zachariah “Zach” Joseph Turner and wife Beth and her son, Hayden all of Leicester; sister, Stacy English and husband Adrian of Lyman, SC; brother, Thomas Turner and wife Glenda and their daughter Mikaela of West Asheville and stepmother, Joyce Arrington and husband Elliott of Fletcher. A memorial gathering will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Montford Ball Park.
