Charlie Jr. Shackleford

Asheville Charles Floyd Charlie Shackleford, Jr., 92, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County, he retired in 1965 from the US Army following 20 years of service and 2 years with the US Coast Guard. He was formerly employed for 21 years with the Asheville Citizen-Times where he served as Supervisor of the Maintenance Dept. Mr. Shackleford was the son of the late Charles Floyd Shackleford, Sr. and Ethel Lee Creasman Shackleford. He was also preceded in death by his three sisters. Surviving are his wife whom he married January 5, 1955, Toshi Takayama Shackleford. Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Robby Russell officiating. Military rites are to be conducted by the NC National Guard.
