Charles William Owen

Asheville Charles W. Owen, 90, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Owen was a 1944 graduate of Lee Edwards High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army, and served out the last of World War II at Camp Crowder, MO and Washington, DC as a clerk. He later retired from Ruths Salads Company as a route salesman. Mr. Owen was the son of the late Allen Kaywood and Maybell Dalton Owen. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Owen, and sister, Barbara Jo Parris. Surviving are his children: Carolyn Treadway (Jimmy), Michael Owen (Jane), and Patricia Simmons; grandchildren: Brandon Treadway, Breanne Simmons, and Katie Owen; and several nieces and nephews. Private memorial services will be held in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with the Rev. Melissa Hughes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mr. Owens family.
