Charles W. "Charlie" Coffey

Charles W. Charlie Coffey, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Kenneth L. Coffey and Althea Angel Ditmore. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Eller; and brothers: Kenneth Coffey, and Sonny Coffey. Charlie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from Asheville Transit after 25 years of service as a bus driver. He and his wife are members of The Salvation Army of Asheville. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Kathleen Louise Kitty Coffey; daughter, Kitty Lee Goehring and her husband Blaine; granddaughter, Amber Dawn Bellomo and her husband Kristopher; great grandchildren: Kristopher Joseph Bellomo, Jr., and Krystil Dawn Bellomo; brother, Garry Coffey and his wife Shirley Ann, all of Asheville; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, September 28, 2015, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Major Pete Costas officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services, Monday, at the funeral home.
