Charles Sluder

Arden - Charles Samuel Sluder, 42, of 209 St. Johns Street, died Thursday - July 5, 2007 at his home. A native of Asheville, he had lived in Ft. Stewart, GA and Ft. Sill, OK before returning to Asheville full time in 1986. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was formerly employed as a Truck Driver. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dewey Ricky Sluder. Surviving are his mother and step father, Patricia Ann Messer Duarte and Joseph Duarte of Asheville; father, Samuel Roy Sluder of Kuwait; wife, Melissa Dawn Missy Crawford Sluder of the home; children, Joseph Sluder of Asheville, Jonathan Sluder of Hendersonville and Matthew Tamari of the home; grandson, Austin Sluder of Asheville; sisters, Annis Ottwell of Weaverville and Stephanie Duarte of Marion and sister-in-law, Julie Papesh of Lake Lure. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Jones and Rev. Danny Overman officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park with Rev. Danny Overman, Jeff Peel, Jeff Cansler, Carl Cansler, Derek Papesh, Ryan Blanton, Scott Keyse and Jeff Ottwell serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
