Charles Jr. Rollins

April 9, 1943 — November 28, 2016

Charles Edward Rollins, Jr., affectionately known as Cowboy, 73, went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his residence. Born in Johnson City, TN, he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was employed with R&L Paving Company following 38 years of service, was a member of VFW Post #891, was of the Baptist faith and was a US Army veteran, stationed in Germany. Mr. Rollins was a son of the late Charles Edward Rollins, Sr. and Edith Alene Gasperson Rollins. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Rollins, Randy Rollins and Matt Rollins; two infant brothers and sister, Callie Williams. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Lynn Dutcher Rollins of the home; sons, Charles Michael Rollins of Murfreesboro, TN, Chase Houston Rollins of Asheville and Chance Tanner Rollins of Robbinsville; step son, Scott Merrill of Fairview; grandson, Jaxxon Rollins of Robbinsville; sisters, Charlene Lance of Fairview and Pamela Dockery and Ginger Johnston both of Asheville; brothers, David Rollins of Augusta, GA and Zane Rollins of Barnardsville; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bellflower officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. At a later date, burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
