Cecil Murray

Candler Cecil Garland Murray, 72, of 32 Overlook Drive passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1994 following over 25 years of service with Consolidated Freight Lines as a Dispatcher and was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Murray was the son of the late Cecil Melvin Murray and Eula Elizabeth Warlick Murray. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Nancy Chandler Murray, whom he married May 30, 1957 of the home; daughter, Gloria Murray Cobb of Candler; son, Scott Samuel Murray of Charlotte; grandchildren, Matthew Chandler Cobb, Samuel Alexander Cobb, Grace Elise Murray & Julia Dare Murray; sister, Pauline Parris of Candler and his faithful companion, his dog Diana. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
