Carolyn P. Allen

October 14, 1938 — June 2, 2007

Grovetown, GA - Carolyn Pauline Allen went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2007. She became the daughter of the late Ed and Pauline Moody formerly of Asheville on October 14, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Raymond. D. Allen, son of Dick and Helen Allen formerly of Asheville, her twin brother, Carroll Moody and brother-in-law, Jimmie Matthews. Mrs. Allen loved her family, friends and church. Life was never dull raising five children all over the world. She never had any regrets, only gratitude for the opportunity to experience the world with them and make new friends with her husband wherever the Army sent them. Aside from traveling the globe, Mrs. Allen loved to go RV camping with her dearly loved cousins, John David and JoNell Styles of Asheville when time permitted. After raising five children, Mrs. Allen felt a void and went to work for the first time in her life at Grovetown Elementary School and love every minute. She retired after 15 years and volunteered full-time in her community and church. Most of her time was spent supplying and operating the local food bank for the needy until her sickness. Survivors include three sons: Donald Frog Allen, Douglas Allen and Richard Allen; two daughters: Rebecca Barron and Regina Chavous and husband Karl; two brothers: Jack Moody and wife Barbara and Philip Moody and wife Barbara; sister-in-law, Patsy Ruth Matthews; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mother, we love you dearly and will miss you forever, but we find comfort in our hearts today knowing that you will suffer no more. God bless you. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM Friday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene Gilliam officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at Starling Funeral Home of Harlem, GA, and from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Gomandi for his efforts in trying to rid their mother of cancer. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society, Ovarian Cancer Research, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
