Carolyn K. Clontz

August 11, 1938 — October 15, 2013

Asheville Carolyn Elizabeth King Clontz, 75, of 59 Knollview Drive, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at her home. A native and resident most of her life of Buncombe County, Carolyn, along with her husband, Bill had resided in North Wilkesboro and Wilmington for several years. While in Wilmington, she served as a Case Worker for the Dept. of Social Services. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Deacon, Jubilee Choir member, a member of the Seekers S.S. Class, former Chairman of the Senior Adult Council and for seven years a member of the Disciple Bible Study Group. She served as a volunteer with ABCCM and was a charter member of the WNC Pilots Association Golden Girls. Carolyn was the daughter of the late Henry Mitchell King and Bonnie Mae Williamson King and was also preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher William Clontz who died October 30, 2004. Surviving are her husband whom she married October 6, 1957, Bill Clontz of the home; children, Terri Lynn Clontz of Raleigh and Michael David Clontz of Asheville; brother, Sam Lee King (Wanda) of Candler and niece, Kimberly Dawn King of Candler. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, October 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Guy Sayles and Rev. David Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Mtn. UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, 5 Oak Street, Asheville, N.C. 28801.
