Carl Leroy Luther

Leicester - Carl Leroy Luther, 55, died Friday April 20, 2007 at the John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center after a brief illness. He grew up in Haywood County and had lived in Buncombe County for the past 27 years. He was a graduate of Pisgah High School and had been an amateur Ham Radio operator for many years with the call letters KC4KPW. He worked at Wilsonart Inc. in Fletcher for 25 years where he was well respected. He was a son of Ruby Luther Kuykendall of Canton and the late Jay Luther. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Jolene Sluder Luther of the home; brothers, Johnny Luther and Wayne Luther both of Canton and Charles Luther of Waynesville; step daughter, Annette Witthoft of Fletcher whom he was very proud of; step grandchildren, Keith, Travis, Kyle and Brandi and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, Doug Sluder and Mr. Tim Gwennap officiating. Burial will be in the Mtn. View Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Phil Willett officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
