Asheville - Carl L. Crandall, 74, of 49 Greenwood Road, died Monday July 8, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Elizabethton, TN. He had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He had retired from the National Climatic Center in Asheville as a computer developer, was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and had received his major in mathematics from UNCA. He was a son of the late Charles Earl and Helen Wilson Crandall. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Geraldine Earwood Crandall of the home; son, Jerry Crandall who is a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve and wife, Ellena of York, SC; grandson, Richard Crandall; granddaughter, Stone Shiflet; great grandson, Gantt Shiflet; brother, Charles Crandall of Asheville and nieces, Brenda Raines and Nancy Hugg. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Revs. Paul Rayborn and Tim Lolley officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the 1st Brigade, 108th Division. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
