Carl Jackson Corn

May 11, 1925 — March 3, 2005

Asheville - Carl Jackson Corn, 79, of 138 Michigan Ave. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2005. Mr. Corn was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a dedicated member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was a retired bricklayer and life member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for fifty (50) years. He was a WWII veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was a son of the late Carl Harris Corn and Willie Deloria Laster Corn. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Corn and a twin sister, Jessie Dielmann. Mr. Corn is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Corn of the home; daughters, Sonya A. Honeycutt and husband John, of Asheville, Gail Waldrup and husband Doug of Barnardsville; son, Carl R. Corn and wife Aileen of Leicester; Sister, Ethel Parham of Weaverville; 7 grandchildren, John Lewis Honeycutt, Jr., Christopher Alan Honeycutt, Jason Nathaniel Honeycutt, Sheila M. McAbee, Jackson Jesus Corn, Erika Eileen Corn and Chevy Jackson Waldrup; 5 great grandchildren, Morgan Nicole Honeycutt, Seth Colby Honeycutt, Cameron Paige McAbee, Jason Nathaniel Honeycutt, Jr. and Brittney Nicole McAbee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. John Honeycutt officiating. Pallbearers will be Sonny Dielmann, Joey Miller, Carl Miller, Richard Bailey, Ken Bailey, Jimmy Smith and Michael Smith. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Asheville High School Jr. R.O.T.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home, at other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Sonya Honeycutt, 5 Mountain Terrace, Asheville. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O.
