ASHEVILLE Carl Albert Hyldburg, 84, of 11 Fairview Avenue, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the John F. Keever , Jr. Solace Center. A native of Concord, NH and resident of Asheville since 1948, he was the son of the late Carl A. Hyldburg and Rachel Eleanora Sandquist Hyldburg. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired April 9, 1983 from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Lt. Col. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Mens Club and served as a Lay Speaker, was on numerous mission building teams and was a Coordinator for Lay Witness Missions. Mr. Hyldburg was an Attorney in Asheville for over 50 years. He received his degree from Duke University where he formerly had taught law. He was a member of the NC Bar Association, a member of the WNC Pilots Association, served on the Asheville Airport Authority Board and numerous County and City Boards. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Trudy Clement Hyldburg of the home; children, Patricia Ann Hyldburg of Durham, Julie Britt Young of Asheville, Charlotte Genell Britt Henningsen and husband, Pete of Orlando, FL, David Huel Britt and wife, Tracy and Steven Dillon Britt and wife, Teresa all of Asheville, special daughter, Lisa Nelson Keener and husband, Gary of Asheville, Carolyn Badila of Alexandria, VA and Sandra Barrett of Asheville; grandchildren, Alecia Britt, Tommy Roberts and Brian Roberts all of Asheville, John Carl Badila of Columbia, SC, Colby Britt, Kyle Britt and Claire Barrett all of Asheville; great grandson, Josiah Roberts of Tucson, AZ. Funeral services will be held 12:30 P.M. Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sara Scruggs and Rev. Terry Duckworth officiating. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Jane Curran officiating. Military graveside rites to be conducted by the Buncombe County Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 P.M. Wednesday at the church. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Buncombe County Bar Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
