Burdette Willis

Burdette Willis, 71, passed away Tuesday, March, 22, 2011 at his residence. Burdette was born in Yancey County, NC and was a son of the late Henry and Virgie Willis. He was retired from Davey Tree Expert after 42 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Willis, sisters, Marie Norton, Violet and Louise Willis, brothers, Billy and James Willis. Surviving are his daughters, Romayne Turner, Sue Rupert and Sheila Trull, special niece, Tammy Maxwell, brother, Junior Willis, five grandchildren and a great grandson. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, at 12 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Albert Roberts and Lawrence Smith officiating. Music will be provided by, Betty Arrington, Larry Ingle, Karen Carraway and Roger Clark. Burial will follow in Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery, Haywood County. Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Clark, Tim Meadows, Mark Willis, Donnie Maxwell, Dustin Willis and Bob Carraway. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 23 from 6 to 8 PM at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for expenses.
