Bruce Max Blankenship

November 13, 1930 — January 5, 2007

Candler Bruce Max Blankenship, 76, of 788 N. Luther Road, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, Bruce had resided in Buncombe County since 1952. He retired from Taylor Instruments following 26 years of service. He was a member of Lusk Chapel Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Army. Bruce was the son of the late William Swann and Allie Price Blankenship. He was also preceded in death by both brothers, William Zane Blankenship and Mark Blankenship. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Janet Taylor Blankenship, of the home; sister, Fannie Hennessee of Candler; two sisters-in-law: Ailon Blankenship of Marion and Marie Blankenship; three special brothers-in-law: Larry Taylor and wife Peggy, Bruce Taylor and wife Paula, and Frank E. Taylor and wife Rosa, all of Candler; 11 nieces and nephews, and an aunt, Zora Price of Spring Creek. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Pisgah View Memorial Park, with Rev. Jackie Collins and Rev. Jimmy Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old US Hwy 19-23, Candler, NC 29715.
