Brenda Pounders

Shelby, NC Brenda June Griggs Pounders, 69, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was a native of Asheville and had resided in Shelby for the past 18 years. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband in a truck, visiting the beach, and camping. Mrs. Pounders was a daughter of the late Clarence and Argle Jane Smith Griggs. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Parham and Mildred Griggs and brother, Bud Clarence Griggs. Surviving are her husband, Danny Lee Pounders of the home; children, Leslie Christine Kelsey (Daniel), James C. Adams and Danny L. Pounders, Jr. (Stacy Dishmond, fiancee) 6 grandchildren and 1 expected in January; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Adams of Bessemer City, Susie Metcalf of Asheville and Linda Vernon (Ollie) of Bessemer City and 4 nieces and 7 nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Easter officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
