Bobby Smith

ASHEVILLE Robert Bobby Louis Smith, 58, of 56 Dorchester Avenue passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a Transport Contractor for the U.S. Postal Service, a 1968 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1970 - 1972. Mr. Smith was a son of Earl Lee Smith and Dorothy Dot Anders Smith of West Asheville. Surviving in addition to his parents are his daughter, Vicki Smith of the home; sons, Robert Robby Alan Smith and wife Misty of Hickory and Brian David Smith of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren; niece, Traci Smith; brothers, Harold Smith, Jack Smith and Tommy Smith all of Asheville; and his best friend, Jesse Franklin of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Monday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Steve Brockwell officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Erwin High School JROTC. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
