Bobby A. Smith

ASHEVILLE Bobby A. Smith, of The Oaks of Sweeten Creek, died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. He was 84. Bobby was born to Floyd James and Ruby Newton Smith in Asheville, NC on June 14, 1926. He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas James Smith and wife Dorothy, Jack Newton Smith and wife Thursia and brother-in-law, Emery Church. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Smith Church of Asheville. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Riverview Cemetery on Riverview Church Road, conducted by Dr. Daniel Dockery. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Special thanks are extended to the staff of The Oaks of Sweeten Creek for the care and kindness Bobby received while making his home there.
