Bob Putnam

Asheville – Robert William “Bob” Putnam, 81, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, he was a long distance truck driver and was a veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Putnam was a son of the late Charlie Western Putnam, Sr and Kathleen Louise Briggs Putnam, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Reece and brother, Eddie Donald Putnam. Surviving are his wife whom he married July 23, 1986, Darlene Greene Putnam of the home; son, Robert William “Robbie” Putnam (Autumn who was like a daughter to him) of Asheville; grandsons, Jax William Putnam of Asheville and Grant William Putnam of Boise, ID; brother, Charles Putnam (Martha) of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Friday, November 12, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Daryl Overton officiating. Interment will be held at 10 AM Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 PM Friday at the funeral home.
