Bob Felkel

Asheville - Robert Milton Bob Felkel, died Sunday May 2, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals as a result of an accident while doing what he loved to do, maintaining his yard. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2009 as President of Felkel Oil Co. following 55 years of service in the community of which he considered his customers as family and friends. He was a member and past chairman of the Board of Deacons of West Asheville Presbyterian Church. He was also a former member of the West Asheville Kiwanis Club and other civic organizations. Mr. Felkel was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving with the 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific Theater. He was born to the late Marion Robert and Ella Marie Anderson Felkel on April 11, 1926. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Margaret Anne Runnion Felkel; children, Cassandra F. Pavone, Terence Milton Terry Felkel, Timothy Howard Felkel and Wendy F. Cole; 10 cherished grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
