Asheville Bob Charles Jones, 59, of 510 Macedonia Road, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a 1964 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School, where he played Right Guard on the football team for four years. He was an active C.B.er since the 1970s, with the handle of Heavy Chevy. Mr. Jones was the former owner of the Phillips 66 station on Patton Avenue and the Minute Man U-Haul on Haywood Road. He was also formerly employed with Trinity Industries on Bingham Road for 17 years and with Sample Group Industries on Deaverview Road for 3 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge on New Leicester Highway. Mr. Jones was the son of Madeline Rose Luther Rickman of Horse Shoe and the late Howard Burton Jones. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Calvin Rickman. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Lora Willene Kirkpatrick Jones of the home; daughter, Tammy Jones Webb and husband Chris of Asheville; son, Brad Jones of Asheville; step-daughter, Jeana Ferguson and husband Beau of Asheville; four grandchildren; Robbie, Tyler, Hallie and Megan; sister, Roseann Wright and husband Herman of Arden; two brothers; Tony Burton Jones and wife Catherine of Swannanoa and Dan Howard Jones of Candler; father and mother-in-law, Sam and Kate Kirkpatrick Caldwell of Spring Creek. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-RIce Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Moore, Evangelist Arnold Ward and Rev. Ricky Townsend officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Tyler Ferguson, Matthew Turbyfill, Chris Webb, Derrick Teague, Chad Tweed and Teddy Tweed. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Roberts, Charles Ellenburg, Jerry Cole, Max Lassiter, Doug Cline, Horace Williams, Herman Dyer, Mike Barrett, Paul Martin and Scott Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Following the graveside service the family will be at the home of Sam & Kate Kirkpatrick Caldwell, 8181 Hwy #209, Hot Springs.
