Blanche Deweese Hamlin

November 29, 1905 — July 18, 2004

Woodfin - Blanche Sarah Deweese Hamlin, 98, of 12 Penley Ave., our beloved mother, grandmother and best friend, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 18, 2004. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Levi Douglas and Alice DeBruhl Deweese. She was a former employee of Burlington Industries and widow of Guy Arthur Hamlin, who died in 1991. She was a member of Elk Mountain Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Vance Hamlin. Surviving are two sons, Bernie and James Hamlin, both of Asheville; three daughters, Rosalee Harwood, Eloise Privett and Jean Hamlin, all of Woodfin; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The Revs. Jennis Sluder will officiate. Burial will be at Elk Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence of Rosalee Harwood, 17 Six Street, Woodfin.
