Asheville Billy Howard Rumbough, Sr., 75, of 22 Laurel Terrace, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Rumbough worked as a rock mason, and was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Mr. Rumbough was the son of the late Rev. Lucius Franklin and Hattie Christine Buckner Rumbough, and the husband of the late Allie Avaleen Rumbough, who passed away December 12, 2005. Surviving are his sons: Billy Rumbough, Jr. and Frank Rumbough, both of Asheville; daughters: Ruby Foster, Rennie Peek and husband Dean, and Sara Moore, all of Asheville, and Christine Wright and husband Cecil of Mars Hill; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty Jean Dobbins and husband Bobby of Weaverville, and Hazel Gaddy of Ima, SC; brother, Bobby Daniel Rumbough of Melbourne, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday at Union Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Albert Roberts and Rev. Truman Burrell officiating. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
