Fairview James William Bill Brown, 93, of 201 Creek Circle Road, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County and resident for most of his life, he had resided along with his wife in Alaska for 21 years and Fort Walton Beach, FL for 10 years. He was a retired electrician and of the Episcopal faith. He was a 1942 graduate of Woodfin High School and went all 11 years without missing a day of school. Mr. Brown served in the US Navy during WWII, Korea, two tours of Vietnam and two tours in the Anartica, having served from 1943 to 1970. Mr. Brown was the son of the late James Carl Brown and Juanita Graham Brown and husband of Ruth Brown who died August 2, 2014. Surviving are his daughters, Jo Anne Shelton (Earl) of Asheville, Nancy Davis of Fairview, Lisa Murrill of Asheville, Tanya Miles (Ray) of Lake Charles, LA and Jane Doe (Gregory) of Asheville; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with Father Wes Shields officiating.
