Betty Penland Rogers

Asheville Betty Ann Holt Penland Rogers, 82, of 74 Selwyn Road, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a graduate of Leicester High School and was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Edgar Holt and Mary Ellen Arrington Holt. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Huelon W. Penland who died March 30, 1963 and Earl D. Rogers who died November 16, 2010. Surviving are her children, Dennis Penland, Bruce Penland and wife Joy, Diane Davis, Linda Penland and Myron Rogers; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, June 20, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton and Rev. Lee Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Grace UMC Cemetery, Newfound Road, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 AM Friday at the funeral home.
