Candler - Betty Louise Granny Lindsey, 77, of 13 Motley Road died Sunday May 20, 2007 following an extended illness. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was known by everyone as Granny. Mrs. Lindsey was the daughter of the late Agnes Shelton Franklin and Robert J. Thompson and the wife of the late Eugene Pressley Pete Lindsey. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dycie Shelton. Surviving are her 3 sons, Joseph E. Lindsey of Church Hill, TN, Ernest G. Lindsey of Candler and Robert Thompson of Blountville, TN; daughter, Mamie Shelton of Madison County; 6 grandchildren, Autumn Lindsey Stephenson, April, David, Michael, Rebekah and Anna Shelton; 5 great - grandchildren,Summer, Wynter, Zoespring, Hollie and Spencer Stephenson. She was well loved and respected by everyone that knew her. Throughout her life Granny enjoyed many of the wonders that the Lord had blessed her with. She loved the Lord, her family and friends tremendously and never failed to extend a helping handto anyone that needed it. Her last days was made as comfortable as she could be by family members and by Dr. Robert Steward. Granny requested that we include him in this writing because he had touched her life in such a great way that she wanted him to know what his skill and compassion meant to her. She respected and trusted him which built a bond of friendship between them. Dr. Steward took time out of his personal life to visit her at home in her final days for that she and the family are grateful. Graveside services will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
