Betty Jane Smith

Asheville - Betty Jane Shipman Smith, 63, of 408 Hazel Mill Road died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Jess and Thelma Louise Franks Shipman and the wife of the late Harold Andrew Smith. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Sue Cole. Surviving are her son, Clint Smith of the home; daughters, Ronda Louise Clark and husband, Donald of Asheville and Kimberly Lynn Smith of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, William Andrew Chapman and James Christopher Chapman; sisters, Edna Littrell of Asheville and Judy Gregg of Leicester; brothers, Donnie Shipman and Rev. Jesse Shipman both of Hendersonville and A.J. Shipman of Asheville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, Dix Creek # 2. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
