Betty Carol Banks

October 6, 1931 — March 11, 2004

Asheville - Betty Carol Arrington Banks, 72, of 36 Skyland Circle went home to be with her Lord, at her home Thursday March 11, 2004. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She was formerly employed with Woodfin Elementary School Cafeteria. She was a member of Elk Mountain Baptist Church for over 45 years where she served on the Hostess, Flower and Decorating Committees. She was also a member of the VFW Post #891 Ladies Auxiliary and was a former member of the Woodfin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Woodfin Community Center Board of Directors. She was a 1949 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School. She was a daughter of Margaret Belle Wilson Arrington of Asheville and the late C. G. Arrington. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert R. Arrington formerly of Asheville. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband Willis Willie King Banks of the home; daughter, Deborah Banks Bell and husband Lee of Asheville; grandchildren, James M. Jamey Connor III of Raleigh and Ashley Connor Taylor and husband Eddie of Candler; sister, Glenda A. Travis and husband David of Arden and several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Huggins officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Lee Bell, David Travis, Eddie Taylor, Larry Plemmons, Clyde Redden and David Herron serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of the daughter, Debi and Lee Bell, 163 Elk Mountain Road.
