Betty Ann Yates

Woodfin – Betty Ann Fortner Yates, 61, of 38 Vine Street, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the St Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. She was a native and resident for most of her life of Buncombe County, and retired in September of 2018 following 10 years as Cashier at the Sav-Mor Grocery on Patton Avenue. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers and customers. Betty was the daughter of Peggy Jean Fortner Burris of the home, and the late William Ted Burris. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Patsy. Surviving in addition to her mother are her loving boyfriend of 20 years, James Stone of the home; sons, Robert Wayne Parker of the home and Hershel Allen Parker of Taylorsville; her 2 fur babies, “Gooby” and “Buster”; brothers, Vincent Lee Burris (Chrysta) of Candler, Anthony Ted Burris (Kim) of Etowah and Timothy A. Burris (Jade) of Marietta, GA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, May 25, 2019 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Gassaway officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
