Bernice Hughes

Asheville Bernice Lunsford Hughes, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Emerald Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Hughes retired from Kenilworth Drug Store as a Pharmacy Assistant. She loved camping and crafts. She was the daughter of the late Bailey and Leona Candler Lunsford, and the wife of Austin Daniel Hughes, who passed away in 1989. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Baldwin and husband Benny of Asheville; son, Ronnie Hughes and wife Jo of Weaverville; grandchildren: Matthew Baldwin, Tasha Hughes, Jacob Hughes, and Joshua Hughes; and great-grandchildren: Austin Baldwin, Tyler Baldwin, Gracie Baldwin and Ella Baldwin. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at West Memorial Park, with the Rev. Larry Sprinkle officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
