Berlon Hensley

Asheville - Berlon D. Hensley, 72, of 105 Arthur Road died unexpectedly Sunday January 25, 2009 at the Memorial Campus of Mission St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Greeneville, TN, he lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the former owner and operator of Hensleys Open Air Market. He was the son of the late Rev. Vernon and Maude Hensley. Surviving are his daughters, Johanna Hensley Welch of Bristol, UK and Danielle Hensley Gelder of Asheville; son, Michael Vernon Hensley of Charlotte and their mother Suzie Hensley of Asheville; grandsons, Waylan Byrd Metcalf and Alfie Welch and granddaughter, Ella Hayes Gelder. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
