Beatrice Virginia Smith

April 16, 1921 — February 2, 2015

Asheville Beatrice Virginia McCarson Smith, 93, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 2, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her family. A native of Transylvania County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was the Custodian at Erwin High School for 27 years. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late James Edward McCarson and Della Carines McCarson and wife of Roy Smith who died September 28, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ted Smith; daughter, Sandra Sisco; grandchildren, Kevin and Keisha; five sisters and three brothers. She was a special person to all who knew her and loved her. Surviving are her daughters: Hazel Goodwin, Gladys Embler (Zack), Dell Sams (Ivan), and Sherry Worley (Dean) all of Asheville, sons: Allen Smith (Mary), Jimmy Smith (Shirley) and Terry Smith all of Asheville, sisters: Margaret Swann and Jean Robinson, grandchildren: Al, Kelly, John, Aresa, Aaron, Daniel, Roy, Bea, David, Doug, James, John, Kandace and Breanna, 19 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Friday February 6, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Austin Watts and Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Western Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
