Barbara Smith

Leicester - Barbara Anne Robertson Smith, 74, of 392 Turkey Creek Road passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Henderson County, she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. Mrs. Smith was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She retired in 2008 from Crossroads Assembly of God following 32 years of service as Secretary and was a member of Emma Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Daniel W. Robertson and Paralee Featherston Robertson. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin L. Smith; sisters, Nelle Roberts, Madeline Young, Virginia Edwards, Bernice Robinson and brothers, Frank Robertson and D.W. Robertson. Surviving are her husband, W. Gerald Smith, whom she married March 27, 1955, of the home; daughter, Susan Smith Welborn and son, Timothy G. Smith both of Leicester; sister-in-law, Betty Robertson of Alpharetta, GA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Pointer officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to services.
