Barbara Payne

Candler Barbara Kaye Norton Payne, 68, of 163 Maple Ridge Road, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and retired from the Asheville Citizen-Times following 10 years of service. Mrs. Payne was a daughter of the late Wayne Norton and Estelle Rachael Jones Norton and was the wife of Harold Richard Payne who died October 3, 2001. Surviving are her son, Wesley Dean Warren and wife Roxanne of Candler; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 3 sisters; 5 brothers and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 23, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
