Barbara Ann Robinson Duckett

Barbara Ann Robinson Duckett, 75, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2017 after a 4.5 year battle with cancer. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Dorothy Worley Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Francis "G.F." Duckett; her brother Guy V. Robinson; and her brother-in-law Ricky Barnes. Surviving are her children: Gary Jefferson Duckett and wife Lisa of Leicester, and Rebecca Ann Wicker and husband Raymond of Mebane, NC; grandchildren: Kristina Robinson and husband Eric, Aaron Duckett, and Lauren Wicker; great-granddaughter, Abigail Robinson; step grandchildren: Matthew Wheeler, Stephanie Gilliland, Candice Plemmons, and Kara Smith and husband James; step great-granddaughter, Loreli Plemmons; sisters: Burnette Robinson and husband Garry, Judy Miller and husband Joe, Brenda Redmond and husband Chuck, Genia Teague and husband Terry, and Patsy Barnes; Brothers: Jerry Robinson and wife Wanda and Ricky Robinson and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Carolyn Robinson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Barbara spent many years transporting elderly friends to doctors' appointments and helping them with errands and other tasks pro bono. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. She also enjoyed helping her husband and son with their construction business. During her battle with cancer she found a hobby in knitting hats and scarves, knitting more than 150 sets that she gave away, as well as many hats that she donated to the children's hospital. Her joy in life was giving to and helping others. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2017, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Carson officiating. She will be buried beside her husband at Grace United Methodist Church overlooking the beautiful mountains. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home.
