Arthur S. Ball

Asheville Arthur Sherman Ball, 76, of 58 First Street, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr Solace Center. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1966. He retired in 2004 from Bolton following 44 years of service; was a member of Ivy Hill Baptist Church and was a Vietnam War US Army veteran. Mr. Ball was a son of the late Clyde Burnette Ball and Gladys Leona Fore Ball and was also preceded in death by his brother, James (Bud) Ball and sister, Barbara Ann Ball. Surviving are his wife whom he married December 24, 1966, Ruth Irene Whitt Ball; sons, Kevin Ball and wife Christy of Candler and Duane Ball and wife Angela of Asheville; grandchildren, Terri Thompson (Todd) of Wellford, SC, Travis Ball of Asheville, Tyler Ball (Brenna) of Canton and Bayleigh Ball of Candler; great grandchildren, Kaialee, Aiden and Colton Thompson; sisters, Shirley Roberts and Linda Mayhew, both of Mars Hill; brothers, Charles Ball (Pat) of Candler and Randy Clubb of Weaverville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Ivy Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Worth Emory officiating. Burial will follow in Fore Family Cemetery in Marshall. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
