Asheville - Anson Woodrow Chandler, 87, also known as Slim, Woody, Big Woody, Big Anse, Granddaddy, 5G and Dubby, passed away Friday, May 18, 2007 after an extended period of declining health. A native of Madison County, he lived in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Woody was a son of the late John Ephriam and Bessie Mae Henderson Chandler. Surviving are his dedicated wife of 65 years, Georgia Mae Hill Chandler; two daughters, Rosemary Chandler Brown and husband Rusty of Candler and Alice Chandler Burhenn and husband Frank of Tampa, FL. He leaves the special loves of his life, his four granddaughters and his nine great grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Richard Dick Chandler of Asheville and his sister, Frances Chandler Plemmons. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews with whom he shared many laughing moments. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P. M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
