Ann Young Quakenbush

January 12, 1937 — November 19, 2010

Asheville - Ann Young Quakenbush, much loved mother and grandmother, 73, went to be with the Lord Friday, November 19, 2010. Mrs. Quakenbush was a native of Mitchell County and was the daughter of the late Clarence Young and Ella McBee Young. She was preceded in death by two men she loved dearly, husband Robert Neal Quakenbush and son David Neal Quakenbush, as well as three brothers and two sisters. She retired from the Eckerd Corporation and was previously employed by Emma Elementary School as a teacher's aide. She was an active member of Emma United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully in various capacities. She is survived by daughter Rhonda Quakenbush Brown and husband Steve, granddaughters Kristen and Brittany Brown of Hendersonville, daughter-in-law Toni Bowen of Asheville, two sisters, Shirley Taylor and husband Clifton of Asheville and Polly Hudson and husband Carlton of Rhode Island and brother-in-law Bill Quakenbush and wife Louise of Asheville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. David Warren and Dr. Steve Quakenbush officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Steve Brown, Tim Taylor, Bill Quakenbush, Dean Quakenbush, Bob Brown and Jeff Brown. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
