Woodfin - Alvia M. Wallace, 82, of Woodfin went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2002. A native of Lumpkin County Georgia, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1928. He retired form Blalock Lumber Company as a saw tiller, was a member of Asheville Freewill Baptist Church and the Mens Bible Class, member of Weaverville Senior Citizens Club and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during World War II. Mr. Wallace was the son of the late George and Nancy Corn Wallace of Georgia and also was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Buckner Wallace who passed away in 1980. He is survived by two sons, George Thomas Wallace and wife, Vickie of Woodfin and Curtis Andrew Wallace and wife, Betsy of Candler; four grandchildren, Shavonne Shay and Aimee Bradley, Curtis Andrew Wallace, Jr. and Elizabeth Hope Wallace, all of Candler. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Gary Haynes and J.R. Plemmons officiating. Burial will be in the French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services and at other times will be at the home of Andy Wallace, 40 Conner Road, Candler.
