Leicester - Alma Waldrop Capps, 83, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Capps retired in 1996 from Revco Scientific, where she worked in the finishing department. She was a faithful member of Sunrise Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU and the church choir, as well as Sunday School teacher for the 4 to 5 year olds. Mrs. Capps was the daughter of the late Jeff and Margaret Elizabeth Surrett Waldrop, and the wife of the late Norman Eugene Capps, who passed away June 19, 2012. Surviving are her children: Sharon Hughes and David Eugene Capps (Felicia); grandchildren: Gary Erwin, Tennielle Erwin, Sherry Norton, Amanda Norton, Jeffery Capps, and Elizabeth Regina Capps; step-grandchildren: Shawn Hughes, Bobby Hughes, and Tonya Hughes; great-grandchildren: Chase, Corbin, and Rylee Roberts, Cameron Nicholson, Dalton Smith, and Jacob, Jasper and Jayden Capps; and step-great-grandchildren: Christa Hughes and Brian Hughes. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Higgins and Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
