Allie Avaleen Rumbough

July 18, 1936 — December 12, 2005

Asheville - Allie Avaleen Rumbough, 69, of 38 Montrose Avenue, passed away Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital System following an extended illness. A native of Yancey County, Mrs. Rumboughhad resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her church greatly, and was loved by all who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Pearl Austin Robinson. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Vergie, Alice and Kathleen; and seven brothers: Carl, JB, Tamage, Tim, JC, Samalee, and CH. Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Billy Howard Rumbough, of the home; children; Billy H. Rumbough, Jr., Frank Rumbough, Ruby Foster, Rennie Peek, and Jannie Hardwick, all of Asheville, and Christine Tinnie Wright of Mars Hill; four sisters: Debbie, Helda, Brenda, and Ellen; a brother, Willie; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She also raised many other children as her own, and loved them all very dearly. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Union Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lanny Cobb, Rev. Anderson Coffee, and Rev. Joe Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the church and at other times at Mrs. Rumboughs home. Mrs. Rumbough will be taken home to lie in state until her visitation. Flowers will be appreciated and can be delivered to Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
