Asheville - Allen Peter Kuykendall, 57, of 402 Old Marshall Hwy. died unexpectedly Friday July 16, 2004 at Memorial mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he had been employed by Silver-Line Plastic Corp. for the past 37 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of VFW Post #891. He was a son of Nydia Kuykendall of Asheville and the late Bill Kuykendall and was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Paul and Junior Kuykendall. He loved his family, his friends and spending time fishing especially at Lake Douglas. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Eva Kuykendall of the home; daughter, Teresa Massey and husband Jeff of Asheville; sons, Allen Hoppy Kuykendall and wife Susie K. of Asheville and Eugene Dab Kuykendall and wife Tracy of Asheville; brother, Doug Kuykendall of Asheville; sister, Rosemary Kuykendall of Asheville; sister-in-law, Pat Kuykendall of Asheville; grandchildren, Samantha and George Massey and Derek and Hannah Kuykendall; niece, Christy Duyck; nephews, Richard and Jeff Kuykendall; special brother-in-law, Roger Putnam and his dog Snuggles. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. J. R. Plemmons and Don Burchette officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Military Rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M.
