Alice W. Lynch

October 9, 1918 — August 6, 2012

Woodfin Alice Wilson Lynch, 93, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, she was born on October 9, 1918 to the late Bascombe R. and Elizabeth G. Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, George D. Lynch; sisters, Viola Jump and Nell Hamlin and brothers, Rex, Lee and Leslie Wilson. Mrs. Lynch was a graduate of Woodfin High School, Cecils Busniness College and A-B Tech. She was a charter member of Elkwood United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, served on the Wesleyan Service Guild, United Methodist Women, Woodfin Home Extension Club, President of the Senior Citizens Club and was a former member of the Planning & Zoning Board for the Town of Woodfin. Mrs. Lynch retired from Buncombe County Tax Department. Her motto was to help someone each and every day. Surviving are her many cherished nieces and nephews, along with great and great great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Elkwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Allen, Rev. Glenda Edney and Rev. Enoch G. Ball, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Churchyard. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday in the church fellowship hall.
