Asheville – Alice Louise Whiteside, 71, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville after a brief illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late James Bronson Whiteside, Sr. and Lillie Louise Metcalf.
Alice enjoyed helping others and participated frequently in many volunteer roles in her community. She was also active in the Enka High School Class of 1971 reunions, where she continued to share many lifelong friendships. Alice had a love of travel, spending a lot of time traveling the West Coast.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons: Patrick Madden and wife Katie, and Eric Oates and wife Rebecca; grandchildren, Arthur and Claire; sister, Kathy Blair and husband Dean; brother, James Whiteside and wife Nancy; niece and nephews: Joel, Christopher, Brooke, Tildon, and Bronson; and numerous lifelong friends.
A celebration of life service for Alice Whiteside will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Hominy Masonic Lodge, 38 Old Pisgah Highway, Candler, NC.
