Alice Brown Henderson

March 2, 1923 — December 18, 2005

Asheville - Alice Melinda Brown Henderson, 82, died Sunday December 18, 2005 at the Hospice Solace Center after an extended illness. A native of Madison County, she had lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church. She was a former food service manager for many years for the school systems and for Thoms Orthopedic Hospital. After retirement she raised cattle with her husband. She was a daughter of the late Lyda J. and Ethel Freeman Brown and was also preceded in death by a grandson, David William Franks and a sister, Madglene Craine. Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Ernest Henderson of the home; daughter, Alice Ann Henderson Franks and son-in-law Tom Franks of Asheville; son, Jeffrey Ernest Henderson and wife Pamela of Waynesville; sisters, Grace Riess and late husband Frank of Beacon, NY and Evelyn Wilson and husband Gordon of Concord, Cal.; brother, Dewey Brown and wife Evelyn of Weaverville; grandchildren, Kevin Franks, Joe Henderson, Ethan Henderson, and Andrew Henderson and wife Amanda, and many precious friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home. Graveside services at Forest Lawn Memorial Park will be held prior to the Memorial Service at the funeral home.
