ASHEVILLE Alfred Al Enoch Bishop, 82, of 47 Cedar Hill Road, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Pisgah Manor Health Care. A native and resident for most of his life in Buncombe County. He retired in 1968 following 24 years of service in the U.S. Air Force as a Tech Sergeant and retired in 1991 after 20 years from the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. He also served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam, was a member of the Nichols-West Asheville Mason Lodge #650 and was a lifetime member of the AMVETS. Mr. Bishop was the son of the late Ernest Huey Bishop and Gussie Ethel Emory Bishop and husband of Clara Genevieve Redden Bishop who died December 29, 1997, and also preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Mary Burton. Surviving are his daughter, Carol Bishop of the home; son, Jerry Dale Bishop and wife, Norma of Canton; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Brockwell officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Memorial Team. Pallbearers will be Bobby, Robby and Brian Smith, Jeff Bishop, Mike Boivin, Ernie Redden, Kevin and Daniel Anderson. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
