Alfred Dee Massey Sr.

Weaverville - Alfred Dee Massey, Sr., 80, of 61 Arrowood Road died Friday, January 23, 2004 at his residence. A native of Madison County, he lived in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a US Army veteran of WW II and a son of the late Joseph H. Massey and Cora Revis Massey. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Luella Dyer and brothers, Clyde, Lloyd and Joseph Dover. Surviving are his wife, Helen Louise Rice Massey of the home; sons, Jerry Lee Massey and wife, Judith of Waynesville and Alfred Dee Massey, Jr. and wife, Sheila of Memphis, TN; daughters, Deanna Metcalf and husband, Clyde of Weaverville and Karen Massey of the home; sisters, Clara Dover and Elizabeth Hensley both of Asheville; grandchildren, Demetrius Massey, Athena Massey, Jeff Metcalf, Leslie Massey, Phillip Massey, Corinna Edwards, Katrina Johnson and Joseph Metcalf and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.
