Alexander D. Bryant, Jr.

Asheville Alexander Dixon Bryant, Jr., 77, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County, he retired in 1972 from the US Navy following 20 years of service as a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. He also retired in 1989 from the Asheville VA Medical Center, was formerly employed with Wal-Mart and was a member of V.F.W. Post #891. Mr. Bryant was the son of the late Alexander Dixon Bryant, Sr. and Meta L McClure Bryant. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Donna Sue Bryant who died February 24, 1959 and Lois Jean Bryant who died March 20, 1988. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Irene Williams Bryant; sister-in-law, Joy Edwards; brothers-in-law, Bob Williams and Raymond Williams and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 3 P.M. Saturday in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Williams officiating.
