Shelbyville, TN - Dorothy Swanson “Dot” Summitt formerly of Asheville died Friday March 5, 2010.
A native of Murphy, she lived in Asheville for most of her life. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She was a daughter of the late William and Martha Ryder Swanson and the wife of the late John Taylor and Torbit “Tiger” Summitt. She was also preceded in death by her son Larry Taylor; sister, Ruth Fowler and brothers, Bill Swanson and Harvey Swanson.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Thomas and husband Mark of Shelbyville, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer Robinson, Joshua Lunsford, Jonathan Lunsford and Colton Taylor; great grandchildren, Caitlin Effler and Elijah Robinson; sisters, Susie Swanson of Andrews, Emma Tanner of Murphy, Elavee Belue of Spartanburg, SC and Jane Tanner of Murphy and brothers, Wendall Swanson of Murphy, Verlin Swanson of Spartanburg, SC, Willis Swanson and Kenneth Swanson both of Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor David Eck officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
