In remembrance of…
Ivan Phillips

Ana contributed this message on Tuesday, June 5, 2018:

Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

I knew Ivan since the early 1990s and worked with him as a co-interpreter many times. He was a colleague who I learned from each time we teamed.

I knew he was ill, but his death comes as a shock to me. So unexpected.

Ivan, I will miss you in the interpreting community & as a friend.

Sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about him and bring him back again. John 5:28, 29 gives this assurance.

Dang, this totally caught me off guard and shocked that he is gone to be with God. He was great man who interpreted for me at A.B.Tech for 2 years til I graduated. He continued to interpret for me in different settings throughout my life. Its unfortunate that he got throat cancer. I prayed for him to heal from throat cancer. Along with me, many of us benefited from his interpreting skills. Now, I have no idea who will be interpret for me for he was one of the few male ASL interpreters I trusted. Not only was he one of my favorite interpreters, Ivan became a friend of mine outside of the business. Ivan helped me understand how life was and how hearing people survived through tough life like mine. I will miss him and always remember him everyday!
